Making a cake is considered a hassle. Yes, you read it right. Making and not baking. A lot of people have this notion that a cake is always baked in an oven and there’s no other way. Even though there are other ways, they are looked down upon. But honestly, you will be stunned knowing how to bake a cake in different ways.

All cakes are different and when it comes to making one by yourself all you want is something easy, quick, and delicious, of course. Let’s explore 3 ways of making a cake that you can do all by yourself with or without an oven.

1. Bake a cake in cooker

A cake in a pressure cooker? Yes, that’s right. As desi as it sounds, making a cake in a pressure cooker is not a new concept and it is as good as any other cake. You can start by getting a cake pan that is 7 inches tall, anything smaller than that might overflow. Grease the pan and get parchment paper. Take your pressure cooker and put a layer of salt in it. Cover it with any plate and place a ring or hot pot stand to avoid the cake from burning. Remove the ring of the cooker, cover it, and let it heat on a slow flame.

Prepare your batter using warm or room temperature milk, pour melted butter in it, add vanilla extract, lemon juice or vinegar, sugar, and stir it until the sugar is diluted. Add flour, baking soda, baking powder, and whisk it together. Once the batter is ready, stomp it lightly on the counter for it to settle firmly and then place it in the cake pan. Bake it in the cooker for 50 to 60 minutes on a low flame. Let the cake cool and spread your favorite icing or whipped cream on it and do your favorite toppings. And in very little time, you have your cake ready!

2. Bake a cake in a frying pan

Making a cake in a frying pan is the easiest way to delight your dessert cravings. Take a thick frying pan and start by melting butter in it. Once it’s melted, place it on the counter to cool for a bit and add flour, baking soda, an egg, and whisk it all together. Later add sugar and milk to it. Give it a nice stir and let it cook for about 10 minutes. Use a transparent lid to cover it. Once the cake is baked, take the lid off and use a fork to check if it cooked inside properly. If the batter if still wet let it cook for longer. If it’s cooked, you are ready to add chocolate spread on it and savor it.

3. Bake a cake in a microwave

The most known and usually the most preferred method to make a cake is to bake it in an oven. Most of us already know how to cook a cake in a microwave yet struggle to get it right. The prominent confusion is if it’s possible to bake a cake in a non-convection microwave. It sure is!

All you have to make sure to use microwave-safe cookware and baking items. Hence, you need to use microwave-safe glass instead of steel racks. Be careful to bake it for 5 to 7 minutes and keep checking on it as you’ll be baking it on normal heating mode. The texture of the cake will be slightly different and if it’s dry, then you can add sugar syrup to moist it.

To bake your cake on convection mode, you begin with setting the microwave on convection mode preheat it. Here are the simple steps:

  • 1. Press the‘ echo/stop’ button
  • 2. Press convection
  • 3. Press select
  • 4. Your microwave will automatically go to preheating mode
  • 5. Place the steel wire rack inside
  • 6. Set the temperature
  • 7. Press start

Make sure you keep your batter while the microwave is preheating because it will retain its heat only for 10 minutes. Hence, you need to place your batter in the microwave as soon as it’s heated. Once placed, do the entire process of setting the microwave on convection mode, your temperature, and heating time. Remember that in a convection microwave your baking time gets reduced by 25 percent. So keep that in mind while setting your timer.

These little tricks and hacks make it possible for anyone to bake a cake themselves with the most minimal supplies. What is important to note that different methods are used for different kinds of cakes. Use whichever is suitable for you and you have got yourself a partayyy!!
