These are the best rasam recipes you can try

When we think of rasam we always think about a good steamy plate of idli vada. Or is it just me? Well, this seems to be the right time to tell you that rasam and sambhar are different. And what you get with idli and vada is sambhar and not rasam. But it’s not like you cannot replace sambhar with rasam.
Honestly, before I started cooking, exploring recipes, and trying out the restaurant or street foods that I love at home, I discovered that rasam is very underrated. In fact, not many people really know what rasam is, what is made of, and there are other ways to have it other than with idli and medu vada.
What is rasam?
It could be called a South Indian soup or even a version of dal. Why? Because the cooking process and the ingredients used are all the same. The only difference is that while soup and dal can be thick, rasam is always very thin, more like watery.
Rasam is gluten-free and purely vegetarian or even vegan. Aside from idli vada, you can have it with steamed rice and other main-course dishes such as fish fry, Chettinad chicken masala, or as an appetizer just like a bowl of soup. It is an amazing cold remedy and feels like a mother’s hug.
What do you need for rasam?
Some of the very basic ingredients that you will need are sesame oil, turmeric, tomato, chili pepper, pepper, garlic, cumin, curry leaves, mustard, coriander, asafetida, sea salt, and water.
