Today, every thing is sugar free this, sugar free that, oil free, no carbs, no fats, urgh!! Isn’t it annoying? I am kidding, it’s wonderful. A couple of years ago I did not have the same opinion. I would always end up with not very pleasant healthy food. But gradually, I discovered the right places, the right recipes, cooking methods, ingredients, and now believe me, I have the superpower to make delicious healthy meals.

I know it’s not a big deal. But that is the prejudice around healthy eating. Sure, some desserts are meant to be had with sugar. But that’s only a conditioning that we have been fed with. At the end of the day, you do you! What goes in your food is your personal opinion. But if you wish to experiment, find new ways of cooking, then I am here with some amazing sugar-free dessert recipes.

But before we get into it, let’s look at some options that you can use as sugar alternatives. When it comes to desserts, you can use sweeteners or different kinds of baking sugar. you can use bananas. They have naturally sweet taste and for a better flavour, you should always use the ripe ones. You can also use brown sugar in case of baking desserts. They are slightly better than refine white sugar. You can also use coconut palm sugar or jaggery even.

In case of liquid sweeteners you can use honey, maple syrup, or agave. These are massively used with pancakes but you can use them with any other dessert recipes. Depending on choice of flavour and how they affect the recipe, you can pick any of these sweeteners.

  1. Atta Jaggery Cake

A simple tea cake is a major mood enhancer. This eggless, atta jaggery cake is the perfect dessert to make for a lazy evening. You can make it with ingredients that you already have at home. All you need is whole wheat flour, that is atta, baking soda, baking powder, and jaggery. Just four dry ingredients and you are good to go. For the wet ingredients, you need homemade curd or greek yogurt, vegetable oil, and milk.

2. Chocolate and Date Pudding

Date is a really good sweetener. Plus it has its own rich flavour which adds a nice twist to your desserts. Now, imagine that with the richness of chocolate. I am telling you, this combination is out of the world. This pudding has layers of chocolate sponge, chia seeds, chocolate syrup, and chia seeds and chocolate chips on top.

3. Almond Malai Kulfi

Who doesn’t like a good old kulfi? It’s not only a delicious dessert but it brings back so many memories. You can now make it home with just milk, condensed milk, nuts, and some kesar (saffron) for a beatiful colour and flavour. The condensed milk here acts a good sugar substitute. But if you want something healthier add date syrup. In fact, I suggest you to also add some date chunks, they bring out the flavour really well.
